Across America, localities are challenged by the impacts of stormwater pollution and the Clean Water Act requirements that require municipalities to treat this pollution. Effective stormwater management is critical to the health of local waters and ecosystems, the use of local beaches and recreational areas, the protection of public health, and compliance with federal and state regulations. AbTech Industries is an environmental technologies firm that can provide innovative solutions to localities and industries to address stormwater challenges. The company’s “SmartSponge®” products are non-toxic, fully recyclable polymer technologies that remove oil, gasoline and other hydrocarbons, sediment, bacteria, pathogens, PAHs and other pollutants from still (ponds, lakes and marinas) or flowing water (curbside drains, pipe outflows, rivers and oceans). This filtration and antimicrobial technology is currently being utilized in more than 13,000 applications in 36 states, and is listed as a Best Management Practice under U.S. EPA stormwater and permitting requirements. SmartSponge® is a low-cost, low-maintenance green technology that is highly flexible, with a number of catch basin, end-of-pipe vault, and other filter applications. Local governments may have the opportunity to use federal and state grants to support the deployment of green infrastructure & green technologies like SmartSponge.
This funding could include:
• Federal Recovery Act funding for stormwater management that will be provided by U.S. EPA and State environmental offices;
• Corps of Engineers environmental infrastructure and ecosystem restoration funding;
• Department of Agriculture water quality funding in rural areas;
• Federal funding for nonpoint pollution control in nationally significant waters including the Great Lakes, the Chesapeake Bay, the Long Island Sound, Puget Sound and other waters.
AbTech seeks to work with its customers to explore and obtain these funding grants to deploy stormwater solutions.
Please join this free webcast on Thursday, March 19, at 3:30 p.m. EST, to find out more about these SmartSponge® stormwater solutions and potential opportunities to fund their deployment with federal and state resources. |
